When I was advised to download Firefox to use to help with my slow and freezing up computer, when I now open my email in yahoo mail, my favorites link/box did not follow??? I need my favorites folder.

You could have been storing your Favorites using the Windows Favorites folder (displayed in Internet Explorer using the Favorites menu or button), or you might have been storing your Favorites using the Yahoo! toolbar.

For IE Favorites, Firefox tries to import them to the Bookmarks menu. This is available on the classic menu bar or if you have the compact two-column menu, from the orange Firefox button or a button on the toolbar. These articles might help in tracking down these imported Favorites:

For Yahoo Favorites, you might need to use the Yahoo! toolbar for Firefox to access those. Do you already have that displayed? You can turn on/off the display of toolbars using one of these methods:

  • right-click a blank area of the tab bar (or the new tab "+" button)
  • tap the Alt key > View menu > Toolbars

If there are problems with importing the IE Favorites in Firefox then export the favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.

If you do not have the menu bar in IE then right-click the toolbar at the top to enable the Menu Bar.

  • Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html):
    File > Import and Export
  • Import the HTML file in Firefox:
Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import Bookmarks from HTML

See "Import from another browser" and "Import from file":
