It is a browser problem and I just don't know how to correct. When I go to VRBO it asks me for my destination and arrival and departure dates. When I click on these, nothing happens

Over the past year or two, Firefox made changes that affect some pop-up calendars on website forms. If this site has not been updated for a long time, it might not have updated those features. Do you want to give a URL so a volunteer can take a look at the form? (Assuming one doesn't need to plunk down a credit card to get to it...)

If you used this site successfully before and it stopped working today or recently, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache

Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.

Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced

On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, either:

  • right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

I did try all this but no response.

Thanks for taking the time to answer

To be more specific, is the problem with the search button at the right end of the top search bar on http://www.vrbo.com/ not working, or are the individual fields nonfunctional or blank? In the attached screenshot, the top shows the normal Firefox display, and the bottom shows how the form appears if you have disabled JavaScript. Does yours match either of those, or something in between?

Sometimes an extension will block part of a page, or will do an incomplete job of removing something in the page such as an ad overlay. Could you try Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using

Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset)

Any difference?

Everything is perfectly fine and there are no blanks. Beside one calendar is the word arrival and beside the other departure. I can use everything else but clicking on the calendars does nothing.

I am not great on the computer, would be very scared to go into FIrefox Safe Mode

Thanks again

Hi PenderH, Firefox's Safe Mode isn't very scary, but an alternate way to see whether an extension could be conflicting would be to disable your extensions. You can do that here:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category

Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Does that make a difference in whether you can access the calendars?

I see nothing that indicates a disabled extension. The ad on section suggests I add ImgLike Opera, URLFixer Plus for RU and UA--it is all in a different language, and Customization for adblock plus

more options

On the left side, there are headings for different categories. Firefox might have displayed the Get Add-ons category (it seems to remember the last one you viewed). Click Extensions to show your installed Extensions.

Sorry, started to respond. Under Adblock Plus 1.2.3 there is one part with the heading of Automatic Updates . It has not been updated since April

Default is checked. Other 2 categories are Disable or Remove.

There is also a comment under Java deployment and toolkit and it says to use the tool kit with caution

The only active extension is AdBlock Plus? I think the current version is more like 2.3.2. You can update using the "gear" button that appears above the list.

You can try disabling AdBlock Plus temporarily and see whether that has any effect on the VRBO calendars.

Thanks for sticking with me through this. I do have Adblock 2.3.2 and removed --nil response with calendar I have Zone Alarm Community Toolbar 3.2004 I have Browsing Protector which is currently disabled --guess I should enable it.

I have stuff for Adobe, Google I tunes, Java, Microsoft etc etc

more options

Anything named "Community Toolbar" or "Browsing Protector" sounds like software you probably do NOT want. I would not enable those.

You can extract a list of all your extensions at once using the Troubleshooting Information page.

Help > Troubleshooting Information

On the left side, use "Copy text to clipboard"

When you paste into a reply, if there's too much data, you can start deleting from the end.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to stop, I just haven't got the time to do all this and have to get to work.

I guess I just can't see the calendar and will have to go to someone else's computer to do so.

Thanks again for trying to help

You can still try Firefox Safe Mode a next time.

You can use one of these to start Firefox in Safe Mode:

  • On Windows, hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox with a double-click on the Firefox desktop shortcut
  • Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
