Tried to watch the following: http://tv.yahoo.com/video/yo-barbara-edens-secrets-staying-081000902.html All I get is a moving circle (indicating the video is loading?) that never finishes. I am able to watch YouTube videos and some other videos in Yahoo. It seem to affect html imbedded video only.

I tried and it played ok - which of course does not prove anything. Please check if all your plugins are up-to-date. To do this, go to the Mozilla Plugin Check site.
Once you're there, the site will check if all your plugins have the latest versions. If you see plugins in the list that have a yellow Update button or a red Update now button, please update these immediately.
To do so, please click each red or yellow button. Then you should see a site that allows you to download the latest version. Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation and follow the steps mentioned in the installation procedure.
Next, look at the following article (you have quite a line-up of plugins named Real*)
Thanks for the answer. I disabled all plugin and even deleted and reinstalled Firefox... nothing worked. I think the answer is more fundamental in my PC setup. I'm dual booting Windows 7 and 8 and having the same problem in both.
Maybe you need to troubleshoot flash.
Thanks for the suggestion but I've already tried that.
Have you tried in safe mode? Windows safe mode
You can try basic steps like these in case of issues with web pages:
Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
- Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
- Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
- Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and the cookies from websites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
- Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
- Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
If clearing cookies doesn't work then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookie files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox profile folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.
You can also try a new Private window.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
