I have been using Firefox for YEARS. I love it, and have always been able to sign-in from a new device and have my bookmarks brought to my new device. For some reason, that is not happening this time.

When I click to sync or import bookmarks, the only options I have are Chrome, a couple others, and from Firefox HTML or CSV file. I do not know how to save the bookmarks. I would think that I could save them on a external hard drive and bring them over, but I do not know that process. It was so much easier when I could log in and bring them over.

Please help. I was so confident when purchasing this new laptop, now I am a bit irritated. Please explain how to bring my bookmarks over to my new device.

Thank you!

Hi Lisa, if you still have access to your old computer, you can make a backup of your browser data and use files from the backup to restore your bookmarks. Let us know if you are interested in the steps for that.

Sync works gradually in the background, so it could be just a matter of time after you sign in. Is any of your other data transferring over (if you have Sync set to synchronize saved logins or other categories)?

You can copy certain files with Firefox closed from one profile folder to the current profile folder to transfer personal data. Note that best is to avoid restoring a full profile folder and only restore important files that are safe to restore/transfer.
