I don't know if this is a firefox or windows issue. A few weeks ago my tag line disappeared from the History>All History page. The column is available but every single page I tagged no longer has anything written in the column. I used sort by tag to keep pages I use often instead of hunting through hundreds of booked mark sites. Don't know what happened, the sites are still there but in my history but I need to be able to sort by tag. Is there a way to get the tag line back?

Do you still see tags if you select the Tags folder in the left panel in the Bookmarks Manager (Library) ?

If it happened a few weeks ago then you may not have an automatically created backup in the backup in the bookmarkbackups folder that you can possibly restore. Note that you lose bookmarks that aren't in the backup you restore.

Tags are not shown in the "History" section of the Library (Ctrl+Shift+O), only the "All Bookmarks" and "Tags" sections. When you select a bookmark that is meant to be tagged, does its "Tags" property at the bottom of the window have the expected value?

cor-el : The Tags folder has tags but you have to open them to find out what site they were tagged to. It's not that the bookmarks are gone it's that history no longer shows them as tagged. But i will check about backing up again.

zeroknoght : My History>Show all History has always shown tags. When I clean my history I've always put a period in the search, clicked the Tags column and then deleted all other sites because I usually visit the same ones often. The All Bookmarks has no saved tags nor any line but Name at the bottom. The "Other bookmarks" folder still has all the old tags showing in the Tags column. So pages are tagged but not showing up as so in history, that column is blank now and it never has been. I just don't understand why the tags column is empty when there should be something there otherwise there shouldn't be a tags column.

I don't know how this used to look since I hid the Tags column. As a temporary workaround until someone finds a better solution you could try this:

Call up Show All Bookmarks (Ctrl+Shift+O), type part or all of the tag in the little search box at the upper left to filter the list, then sort by the Most Recent Visit column.

Alternately, there might be a way to construct a "Places" query, sometimes called a Smart Bookmark Folder, sorted by most recent visit and restricted to tagged bookmarks.

Regarding using tags to identify frequently visited pages you might not want to remove from history, can you use the Visit Count column for that?
