Hello, I did a clean my mac last night on my laptop and I think I accidentally deleted my bookmarks. I'm not sure how to recover them. Please help!

Was it this product: https://macpaw.com/cleanmymac/mac-cleanup. That seems to do a lot and I don't know why it would clear bookmarks. Maybe it's the "large files" thing?

First, though, question: what about history and settings? Does your Firefox still have the recent browsing history (you can use Command+H to check the History sidebar)? Did you lose any customizations or add-ons?

Assuming that is all still intact, could you check the Restore option for available bookmark backups. This article has more information:

Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer

But wait: if you have the add-on Default Bookmark Folder, make sure to disable that BEFORE running Restore. Otherwise, it will dutifully move all your bookmarks to one folder instead of allowing them to return to their original locations.

yes it was mac paw clean my mac. I'm so confused - I did the history search command H - there is no history and I don't think I have the Default Bookmark Folder Ad on - this doesn't solve my problem and when I did the import bookmarks thing it didn't do anything

I did do the clean large files thing but I have done that before and It never wiped out my bookmarks - do you think its an account thing? I think I only have one account with firefox though

Hi Ana, on your Restore menu, did it show how many items were in the last backup? A number in the 20-25 range usually means those are the ones that come with Firefox rather than your own collection.

You could check whether Firefox created a new profile -- a profile is an individual data folder. Please see the steps in this article: Recover lost or missing Bookmarks.

If you use the Time Machine or other backup then try to restore file(s) from this backup.
