I've been using Firefox since Netscape died and never had this problem.

For over half an hour I've been dragging and dragging and searching the web ... I couldn't get the URL in the bookmarks if my life depended on it.

I read about that star thing -- WAY to slow! Nobody pays me to organize my tabs.

Why is this not working anymore?

THANKS!!!

Try dragging the lock icon you see at the left of the address text. (I've never had much luck dragging the text itself.)

Sorry, I wasn't clear, actually am dragging the lock, not the text.

It is so weird, I can drag the link to the bookmark folder and then it disappears. Even restarted my notebook, same thing.

Haven't tried to organize in a while, but Firefox uses so much memory, I wanted to close some tabs. So I don't know when this started.

Google Chrome Open Google Chrome browser. Go to the webpage you want to bookmark. Click the star icon on the right side of the address bar. Name the bookmark. Select the folder you want the webpage to be saved to. Click “Done” to bookmark the webpage

Does dragging the tab to the Bookmarks Toolbar or to the sidebar fail as well ? You can't drag a selected text link to get the URL.

This could be a problem with the places.sqlite and favicons.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder.

  • use the "Places Database" -> "Verify Integrity" button on the "Help -> More Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page

If errors are reported with "Verify Integrity", close and restart Firefox or reboot and retry.

Apparently I FORGOT that I had installed the extension Default Bookmark Folder that prevented me from properly bookmarking, duh! I had never used it, I have thousands of bookmarks and hoped to get more organized.

Didn't realize it prevented "normal" bookmarking. Sorry!
