The messages will all appear as they were when site was last accessed. Has nothing to do with whether your PC was trashed or not.

The info to set up the account can be provided by your email provider, e.g., AOL, Gmail, etc. If you tell us what email service you use, we may know it.

what about drafts will they come up too

You are using Imap that means all your emails are stored on the server, so yes you will be able see all server folders, although you may need to subscribe to see any you have created.

Mary, Can you upload a screenshot of profile? The abook.sqlite file should be there.

Is it that you're getting no addresses, or just some addresses? I ask that because I see another addressbook, abook.v2.sqlite. if you're seeing NO addresses, then a possibility would be to rename abook.sqlite to abookHOLD.sqlite (instead of deleting it), and renaming abook.v2.sqlite to abook.sqlite and then restart Thunderbird to see if it is the correct one.

Another possibility might be that you have more than one profile and are looking at the one not used.

Okay, you're upset, but you're not explaining well. My understanding is that you have Thunderbird installed and all is okay except the addressbook. Is that true? Or are you also not accessing your email account? If you have trouble setting up your email account, you never told us your email vendor, e.g., AOL, comcast, verizon, gmail, etc. Bring us up to date on where you are now.

Why is it so impossible to copy paste one Folder called 'Thunderbird' from the 'Roaming' folder on Win 7 to 'Roaming' folder on Win10 - all data would have been copied over and it is still possible to do it.

Okay. That's good. Let's confirm that the profile info screenshot you posted is the one Thunderbird is using. Click help>more troubleshooting information and scroll down left side to PROFILES. To the right is 'about:profiles' - click that and it will show you the profiles found. Look carefully at the names. Your profile name ends in yfyc42x4.default-release. That should appear as your default profile. If it does NOT, then that means you accidentally put your abook.sqlite into the wrong profile. In such case, just close Thunderbird and copy the address book to the other profile.

If it shows the yfyc42x4 profile as the default, then my guess is your 'real' addressbook is in abook.v2.sqlite and it needs to be renamed to abook.sqlite for Thunderbird to see it. Before doing that, rename the existing abook.sqlite to anything else, just in case you later find you need it.

Just to ensure no other possible problems, do you recall the version of Thunderbird you were using prior to it crashing? If it had not been updated in a few years, that might be part of the problem. My inference is that you were more up to date than that.

And, for what it's worth, more than once I have spent a week or more in helping a person fix their software, so don't assume you're mentally challenged. Different people have different skills. I can't sing, play an instrument, or do somersaults, and I envy those who can.

As an aside, what happens when you attempt to browse your addressbook? Do you receive an error, or just an empty addressbook?

Okay, my guess is to next try renaming abook.v2.sqlite to abook.sqlite and see if that works. You only have the two, so I assume one of them will work. I've never faced the problem, so it's at best a guess. Good luck.

If that doesn't work, then my next suggestion would be to see if there are any usable addresses there. You can test this by selecting Tools>Addressbook>Tools>Export That will attempt to locate addresses and convert them to a 'csv' file that can be viewed in a spreadsheet program to see if there is any intelligence there. If addresses do appear, you could then click tools>addressbook>tools>import and import the addresses back in. It takes some practice to select the desired components, but it may work.
