I've noticed that unlike an earlier version that I had been using, Bookmarks menu stays open after I've made my selection. Can it be configured to autoclose the bookmarks side bar after I've selected?

You can't auto-close the sidebar, but there is a pref on the about:config page that sets the behavior for closing the menu when you open a bookmark.

  • browser.bookmarks.openInTabClosesMenu = true or false

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.
