I have been using Firefox for years as default browser. This evening, opening it gets a completely blank white screen. Nothing. Nada. I uninstalled it and have tried to reinstall Firefox. Doesn't work. What next?

What's your computer system and Firefox version?

Some problems occur when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;

  • Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
  • Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see

Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet. {web link}

I have Norton on my laptop. I don't see where there is a list on Norton of trusted programs. SO I'm still lost. Sorry!

Can't seem to figure it out. I am not a computer whiz, or an IT expert. I have considered myself fairly savvy for an amateur, and use a lot of programs. But am stumped. Do you think it is the Norton? (I get no information from that site) I could delete it and use something else. As it is, and I have tried again, when I download Firefox it opens as a bare white screen where nothing can be selected. So I have deleted the program again. I would hate to lose it. I have always preferred Firefox.

I don't know. They should be able to help if it is.
