Isithangami Sabeseki

Last week there was a button in the upper right menu that blocked all images from loading--from all websites. It was very useful. Now it is gone.

Not really more details than this. It was in the Windows version of Firefox and not in the Android app. Since I currently have v72, must have been some version prior to 72.

Support for blocking images from individual domains has been removed from Firefox, because of low usage and poor user experience.

You can use a content blocking extension if you want to block specific content like images.

Umnikazi wombuzo

Thank you for the quick response.

This was not for specific domains. I've seen the thread about domain specific blocking. This is something different.

There was a slide button (actually two buttons disappeared) from the Firefox menu over the past few days). Can you confirm, or am I imagining this.

As for content blocking extensions, there are no established extensions with more than a few hundred users. These two buttons in the Firefox menu were very convenient and worked well. Mostly because even the most highly rated add-blockers are not very effective. Image based adds in legitimate websites (like the Washington Post, for example) are not blocked by add-blocking extensions and are very distracting.

permissions.default.image in about:config works fine (does what those buttons did) but is not convenient to turn off and on.

Thank you for your input.
