I installed the latest version of Firefox from the web site. Upon starting, using the ~/firefox/firefox methode, the version is still reading 3.6.17.

I have removed all other version of firefox from my system and the problem still remains.

You have started the Firefox version from your distribution:

  • Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.2.17) Gecko/20110420 SUSE/3.6.17-0.2.1 Firefox/3.6.17

You need to create a new launcher that start the Firefox 4 version.

Was an error on my part. Was unaware that there were two rouge processes running. I killed them and the correct verion fired up.
