I am still trying to resolve a problem I incurred when transferring the profile from an old to a new laptop. I inadvertently deleted a folder in TB. I tried to copy and paste the missing folder but now TB doesn't work at all. I am hoping someone can help me with some useful advise. Thank you in anticipation. John

if you have a backup of everything from your old laptop, do the following.

Windows key +R Type %appdata% and press enter. Delete the Thunderbird folder that is visible in the windows file manager.

Restart Thunderbird, let it create a new profile for you Cancel out of any account creation. Access the help menu and select troubleshooting information. Use the show profile button in Troubleshooting information. Close Thunderbird Copy the contents of your old profile into the new one. So that the new files are replaced by the old. This will generate a fair bit of confirming to start with, but if you are not asked to replace files your copying the wrong thing, or putting it in the wrong place. If that is the case Delete the Thunderbird folder and start again.
