Those typical search results which include (on Google) short questions and caret (or dropdown) short answers no longer open. This occurred after I downloaded an upgrade to an anti-virus program.

That usually means that it's one of two things.

The most likely is that the issue is caused by an extension installed on Firefox. Certain ad blockers and other types of content filters are known to cause issues like these. To solve this, you will have to use trial and error to determine the cause of the problem.

The other, less likely solution could be to disable hardware acceleration. Although I can't say I've heard of hardware acceleration causing an issue similar to this one, it's possible. So if none of your extensions are causing the issue, try disabling hardware acceleration to see if that helps.

I assume you are referring to the questions shown in the screenshot I have attached?

Firstly, I would recommend clearing your cache in Firefox. This is a common cause of issues like this.

If that doesn't fix the issue, I'd also recommend running in Firefox Safe Mode to see if the issue also exists in there. If it does, it usually means that a browser extension (possibly one installed by your antivirus software) is causing the issue.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help. The cache clearing did not work, but the safe mode did work. What would be the next step? I did remove the anti-virus program from my computer (I had another) but this had no impact on the problem.

Solved. Thanks so much for your assistance. It was the User Agent Switcher wh. caused all the problems in my search results.
