I was running on a old version of thunderbird due to the option it had of displaying mails in the same screen (for example, when searching on a name, you got al the according mails with that word in the same screen when in your inbox list) but al it does now is opening it in a new tab, with al kind of previews and a lot of missing mails.

Somehow, it did upgrade to the latest version, i cannot find the previous version which did above. I already tried options-advanced-display, this doesnt work.

Does someone know the right version for above option?

Found solution.

The problem is the by standard enabled globa (global search). The function i am looking for is the filter option, which displays only the appropiate mails and no previews or seperate tabs.

Globa can be turned off by options-advanced-uncheck global search and indexation box.

You can keep Global Search enabled, unless you never use it, while using the Quick Filter Bar (Ctrl+Shift+K), which is enabled under View/Toolbars.

The third type of search is Edit/Find/Search Messages, Ctrl+Shift+F, which is useful for searching a single account.
