With two Gmail acct. I prefer one over the other - how to set?
On the bar I have two Gmail acct.s and prefer my newer one. When I click on it I get the older one. Then I must go to the icon picture to change to my preferred acct. This change happened after an update this year. What needs to be done to only click successfully once?

Hi mulan1,
Your primary Gmail account is also your Google account and as far as I know you can't change that.
But you could make sure and ask here :
If you have multiple Gmail accounts open at the same time (i.e. you see them as choices if you login) then remove them all and reopen the preferred account as the first. That should set this account as the default (i.e. the account at the top is the preferred account).

Thank you Cor-el. You were close. I needed a little bit more info. Went to Google account main page to then see my two accounts. I did what you said but McCoy added that I needed to sign out of both first through my picture icon. Then choosing the one I preferred and doing that process twice ensured my favorite one is the default mail. I didn't mention the addresses are on a bar on my Protopage under Mozilla Firefox - if that makes any difference. Thank you to both for the other process was annoying and time consuming!
