How do I stop Firefox covering my autohiding taskbar?

Hi. My Firefox covers my taskbar which is set to auto hide. Firefox is not set to full screen mode, however if I enter full screen mode then exit it, the taskbar functions as normally above Firefox. This solution only works until I maximize another program, then Firefox resumes covering my taskbar.

e.g. I have Firefox and Thunderbird open. I'm browsing on Firefox, I press f11 twice to enter and exit full screen mode to get my taskbar working correctly. I change to Thunderbird to read an email then maximize Firefox to resume my browsing. At this point Firefox covers the taskbar again.

It happens with the few themes I've tested so it isn't the theme, it happened long before I started using the 'Stylish' extension

How can I solve this problem?

Thanks
