I have an Asus Transformer book, a rather small hybrid tablet/laptop running Windows 10. Because the screen is small, I usually use these and other programs in full screen, and I like to use the task bar to switch between them.

Since upgrading to Windows 10, I have constant problems with the Windows Taskbar when using Thunderbird. Either it doesn't appear or it won't go away. When it won't go away, it's sometimes because of some hidden icon that has a message awaiting my attention. However, the taskbar doesn't freeze shut or freeze open with other programs i use. Chrome, sorry, is one of them. Libre Office is another, just as examples.

When the Taskbar just won't show up in Thunderbird, I can usually resolve the problem by shutting down and restarting Thunderbird. However, this is a pain. Does anyone have an idea as to why Thunderbird plays so badly with the Windows taskbar?

I suggest you file a bug on that. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/

before you do however, try changing the theme in windows just to see if that is involved. others have reported it can force a change of focus (write to main window), so this is not out of the question.
