Why has it become slow, eats RAM and heats up laptop than other browsers like Chrome off late?

I have been using Firefox as my default browser for the last 13 or 14 years in various computers. For the past six months or so I feel that Firefox has become very slow, is taking up too much RAM and behold, it has become the sole reason for the undue heating up of my laptop, (HP 250, Intel i3, 4 GB RAM, Win 7) to an approximate average of 60 C. I thought that the problem was with my laptop and did use extra fan, cleaned up the insides of lappy etc. but not to avail, the temperature remained high and the computer slow! (it slows down when ACPI temp reaches near 65 C.) Then by chance, I used Chrome after a Firefox crash and it was a revelation! The exactly same work of heavy browsing with 10 or more tabs open at a time is being achieved by Chrome browser with an average temperature of 50 C ie. a flat difference of more than 10 C in my computer. My ambient temperature at this time of the year is as high as 35-37 C. To bring the long story short, I have now reluctantly abandoned Firefox but would like to thank for my long usage since earliest part of this century. Even as I don't know whether I will use Firefox anymore, I take this opportunity to issue my fair warning that, IMHO, Firefox has become inefficient than it used to be and it has lost a a staunch user.
