Hi,

I accidentally hit the wrong keys trying to switch tabs using Ctrl+Number and somehow the Bookmarks Toolbar and Awesome Bar (is that still its name?) changed their background to the background to currently active tab has (see attached screenshot).

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to reproduce the key combination that did this. Reseting my profile hasn't changed it back either. Does anyone know how to revert this? I find it extremely uneasy on the eyes...

Thanks!

You can look at the Classic Theme Restorer extension to customize the appearance and restore features used in older Firefox versions.

See Toolbars (3) in the CTR settings.

  • You can check out the settings of the CTR extension via its Options/Preferences button on the "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" page.
  • You can find extra toolbar buttons and more toolbar settings in Customize (3-bar Firefox menu button > Customize)

It's dawning on me that this is a new "feature" of Firefox 44.0, the update to which happened to have coincided with my tab-switching after a restart.

The issue still bugs me, however, and I have rudimentally searched about:config for an option to turn this off but haven't found anything.

Yes, based on a couple other threads, there is a reduced transparency of the toolbars in Firefox 44 (semi-opaque or translucent appearance), but the specific coloration varies between operating systems. Probably someone will post comments on how to restyle the bars using a custom style rule, but I don't have Windows 10 handy to experiment with myself.

Thanks for the reply. I'll stay on the lookout for tweaks.

It is possible that you have changed a setting in the Personas Plus extension, so maybe check that out.

Thank you, this mostly does it! It's not exactly the same but close. I'm marking this as the solution.

This was something I thought about as well, but Personas Plus doesn't change anything there. Most likely, Mozilla just didn't think about people still using Personas when implementing the background coloring of toolbars.
