Firefox freezes on download and when opening options
Hi there,
My Firefox 41.0.2 keeps not responding every time I am about to download a file or when I try to open the Options menu. I've installed it from scratch and have removed my old profile, but the problem persists. I've seen another thread where a user solved this by running Firefox as an administrator, but that hasn't worked for me either. Any help with this?
Thanks.

What is your computer system and Firefox?
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options) key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?
Start your Computer in safe mode with networking. Then start Firefox. Try Safe web sites. Is the problem still there?
Thank you for your reply.
Sadly, the problem continues to happen even if I start Firefox (or Windows) in safe mode. My computer is a Core 2 Duo E6750 and the OS is Windows 7 x64. Firefox is updated to the last version, fresh install.
I've been able to access the old options menu by changing a parameter in about:config. Once there, Firefox will hang if I try to set a download folder or if I click on the Applications tab.
Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link} Save the file. Then;
Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.
Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86) Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. Linux: Check your user manual.
• Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder Firefox in your home directory.
Look for, and rename any Mozilla or Firefox folders by adding .old to them.
After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner. Then run the installer. If all goes well, remove the OLD folders when you are done.
