How do I do a clean re-instal of Thunderbird?
I would like to completely re-instal Thunderbird on one of my PCs (running Windows 8). For whatever reason, - and I have checked all the settings in "options", I can neither receive nor send emails. However, when I first uninstall and then instal Thunderbird, the problem persists, - and Thunderbird returns on the PC with exactly the same settings. I have installed Thunderbird on a laptop, for the email address as in the Windows 8 PC, and everything works fine.
I would like to remove ALL settings for Thunderbird that are on the Windows 8 PC, so that I can do a clean reinstal.

All of your settings are stored in a 'profile'. See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-tb to locate yours. If you delete that file while TB is NOT running and then restart, a new, default profile should be created. You shouldn't need to re-install TB itself.

Many thanks, - eventually this seemed to do the trick!

There must be some other residual settings somewhere. I uninstalled and reinstalled, without reloading my profile, and TB was still using some of the original settings.
Perhaps something in registry? Maybe W8.1 is holding on to something?
Many thanks. Action as taken above seems to have sorted the problem.
