Yes it is Free and you should update.
Do the following:
- Update Firefox, Update Firefox to the latest release
- Update your plugins (including Flash) http://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/
- Update Windows windowsupdate.microsoft.com (Use Ineter Explorer to visit that site)
- Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL
- Scan for malware, Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware
