While I like to have shortcuts for sites that I visit frequently (Amazon, eBay, bank, etc.), I don't like the fact that a recently visited site shows up among the four rows of my shortcuts every time I log in and go to my shortcuts. (My computer defaults to these shortcuts when I open up Firefox). Something new that wasn't previously there. I'm like, "okay, that's not something that I put there myself". Something that I didn't SAVE as a shortcut myself. It wasn't like this on my old computer. I had just the frequent sites that I WANTED to show on my shortcuts, not a new icon for a site I've visited recently. I unchecked the "Shortcuts" box in settings and sure enough, ALL my shortcuts disappeared. Had to recheck the box.

Am I missing something here? Why can't I have only the shortcuts that I want on those four rows and not have an icon for a recently visited site just add itself to my shortcuts? Just because I visit any particular site (whether one of my shortcuts or not) doesn't necessarily mean that once I leave that site, that I want it to show up in my shortcuts with a slightly different looking icon from my regular shortcuts, basically duplicating what I already have, but needlessly adding something that I didn't ask to save? For example, if I open up Yahoo to check mail, despite already having a shortcut with the Yahoo icon, the next time that I turn on my computer, I'll have a slightly different Yahoo icon that might now show "log in", as well. Ditto with other shortcut icons.

I hope all this makes sense. Can anyone explain to me how to fix this? Any help would be much appreciated.

For the past, about 9 months, every time any update is applied to my Firefox browser, I loose access to my Bookmarks (approx 10 years worth) and have to go through the tedious process of copying, renaming, moving, restarting etc. Is Mozilla going to fix this issue soon or should I just resign myself to having to check my bookmarks every couple of days or so to see if they still exist.

I am trying to find a way to restore the previous tabs that I had open. All the standard restore procedures out of the History button or elsewhere are not working due to the account change. Here's the background and scenario: Original account created 1 month ago on old Linux PC New PC purchased and Ubuntu Linux 24.04 installed Firefox installed and configured, bookmarks imported from .html file. No sync account was ever signed in to. Open a crapload of tabs that I wanted/needed to interact with (yes, I need a better task management system) Finally decide to log into sync account, successful sign-in Close browser for PC restart. Upon restart, all configurations from 1 month ago on old Linux PC are present, and no previously-opened tabs come back. Restore session/restore tabs/restore browser all are greyed out, no data to access in history anywhere. Signed out of account, closed browser window and restarted. Still displaying config from old sync account even when not logged in (different theme, toolbar settings)

I am unable to locate any files in the pathway Home/snap/firefox/common/.mozilla/firefox that clearly indicate multiple profiles; there is only one distinct profile folder present. I haven't cleared cache or anything, trying to not touch it more. Is it possible to restore or even see the URLs of those tabs from my session prior to logging in to my sync profile?

I depend heavily in my environmental and other work on Firefox and am grateful for its ability to restore previous tabs when my laptop, not infrequently, stops working abruptly.

Now the much-used bookmarks have disappeared. A search site states promisingly:

"To restore Firefox bookmarks, use the built-in backup feature by going to Menu > Bookmarks > Manage Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Restore, then select a dated backup or a manual file (like a JSON backup) to bring back lost bookmarks..."

But my Firefox's Bookmarks drop-down menu has no Manage Bookmarks option. PLEASE, what must I do?

Elsewhere I managed to find this file which apparently contains recent bookmarks:

"C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\unk14jlv.default-release-1647366062305\bookmarkbackups\bookmarks-2025-12-26_95_4IdGtYxezJpwuH1UIiT1bRwe1K6bcGO8rv0mqa9rUWU=.jsonlz4"

But attempting to open it with Applications\firefox.exe (default) accomplishes nothing.

Firefox suddenly reset to a fresh install state: only default bookmarks, my custom ones are gone. No sync enabled. No manual reset/refresh/reinstall done. Tried: Restore from backups (none recent), about:profiles (only new profile), checked bookmarkbackups folder (empty/old). Please help recover bookmarks if possible. What could cause this? Any recovery steps?

Why have all my bookmarks disappeared? I wnt through several of th steps offered on the cautionary link and nothing changed. What Windows update defiled your security? Will I have to search for another browser? I've used Firefox for years ... don't make me search for a better browser.

On my Windows 11 IOT Enterprise LTSC system firefox does not entirely close. After I installed my professional tax software from Drake Software LLC the following happens repeatedly: I open Firefox, look at a page, close Firefox, the screen clears and when I try to REOPEN firefox a popup says that it is still running and offers close or cancel. Neither button opens,closes or cancels Firefox. I have to reboot to make Firefox (147.02 64bit) close. This happens every time I open Firefox.

I just thought you might like to know that because you keep posting biased fake Leftist news from CNN, AP, PBS, NPR, Axios, The Guardian, Washington Post, NY Times, etc., on my Firefox home page, I have BLOCKED all your content. Firefox is blocking access to my yahoo mail trash and spam folders. The message says SSL_ERROR_RECORD_TOO_LONG. It refers to cow.hunt.forenenst.com as the problem. It says to contact the website. Does that mean cow.hunt... or should I contact Yahoo? Can Mozilla/Firefox help me? Should I try using Safari to access my Yahoo mail account? Should I contact Apple Support? Do I need to install some antimalware?

I have been using 1Password 7 to manage my login credentials. It includes a Firefox extension to fill in account names and passwords in login alerts and pages.

Firefox 147.0.1 (macOS aarch64) in January 2026 has broken 1Password 7's ability to fill in account names and passwords.

To reproduce: 1. Install 1Password 7 Version 7.9.11 (70911000) and its extension version 4.7.5.90 in Firefox 147.0.1 on macOS. 2. Visit a URL for which 1Password 7 has login credentials. 3. Click on the toolbar icon for 1Password 7. A 1Password 7 dialogue box pops down from the icon, containing the username and password for that URL. 4. Click the Autofill button in that dialogue box.

Observed behaviour: 1. Username and Password fields remain blank.

Expected behaviour: 1. Username and Password from 1Password 7 appear in the Username and Password fields.

For approximately the last three months, there was a partial failure similar to this. 1. 1Password 7 popdown dialogue moves from the toolbar icon to the Firefox tab for that URL. 2. Username and Password fields remain blank. 3. Workaround: click in the username field, then tab 2-4 times to further UI objects in the login credentials form. Then click the 1Password toolbar icon, then click the Autofill button in the popdown dialogue. Then, the Username and Password from 1Password 7 appear in the Username and Password fields.

The expected behaviour occurs for the same URLs in Safari.

Thus I suspect that Firefox has somehow changed its behaviour in the last few months to cause this regression. I have not changed the 1Password software versions in this time, because I am intentionally using a previous version of 1Password.

I am looking for a fix or workaround which works with my current 1Password software version. I am not interested in a solution which requires me to upgrade to the current version of 1Password. (The current version of 1Password imposes a feature which I am resisting.) I realise that this reduces the chance that I can persuade the Firefox team to find and correct this regression.

I got a message on my Win10 PC saying, "Your Firefox profile can not be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible."

Mozilla help suggests looking in %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\. I did this but don't know what to do next.

I have another Win10 PC where Mozilla still works, and they do sync. Should I copy some of the Mozilla folders from it to the first PC to restore the problem? Which ones?

BTW, I can still run the Mozilla TOR Browser on the first PC. Thank you!

When my computer reseted, I lost all my accounts. When I logged in with Mozilla, only past data from microsoft edge were restored because of the uploading part of the sign in. How do I get my bookmarks and passwords back?

Per [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/control-personal-device-local-networ...] I was looking for Settings > Permissions > "Local network devices" but the option was not present.

Looking at about:config network.lna.blocking I found it set to "false" by default. Only after I changed this to "true" did the UI shows the "Local network devices" configuration option.

Why is this disabled by default? Isn't this a security risk? It seems like users should be notified by default and have the option to block these requests.

After a few days of having no internet connection, my account was disconnected from my PC and saved passwords disappeared. After signing in to my account again and syncing, lost passwords were not recovered. I need help to recover them.
