The fix is, after installing Silverlight, go to Tools / Add-ons, click on Plug-Ins and select the pulldown "Always Activate" next to Silverlight Plug-In. It looks like Firefox is not wanting to activate Silverlight by default.

After reinstalling, try clearing recent cookies and cache. I have run into this issue twice after Firefox has auto downloaded a new version of itself, and this has been the solution.
