Was the registration for Firefox Sync ??

There is a form on the welcome page to sign up for the newsletter, but you do not need to wait to use Firefox on the web. You should be able to search using the search bar, or address bar, or the built-in home page (possibly a second tab behind or next to the welcome page). Try clicking the home button (house icon on the main toolbar).

If the welcome page keeps coming back every time you restart Firefox, that might be caused by a different issue, a problem updating your settings. Is that the problem?
