Java 7u17.exe file download will not stop. I cannot get this to stop and off my screen.

was asked to download 'updated' version of Java. 2 weeks later, I cannot get the download or Loop to stop and off my screen. It says 1 second to go, and lights flashing across screen like it really is downloading. But Xing out doesn't work, the Cancel button doesn't stop it. And my systems are running slower now.

Try to delete the downloads.sqlite file in the Firefox profile folder.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder

You can find the latest Java version on the Oracle website.

It is possible that anti-virus software is corrupting downloaded files or is otherwise interfering with downloading files.

Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.
