How do I determine if Java is resident/active on my computer, and how do I disable it?
My concern regarding Java lies in the current caution issued by the government on possible malware access through Java. I can not find Java in the "Add/Remove Programs" list, but am not sure if this really ensures that the Java program is resident or not.

If Java doesn't appear in Add / Remove Programs, you don't have it installed.

Thank you very much for your response. I am not highly proficient with regard to software and/or malware issues on computers so always try to be extra vigilant.
