I just upgraded from FireFox 12 to FireFox 13 Beta, and it seems to have solved the problems I was having with slow loading web pages in FF12. However, I find that I can't log in to my Google Calendar with FF13 Beta, although I can with other browsers - I.E., Opera, Chrome.

Any suggestions?

I've edited this post to delete some questionable information and keep only what I'm sure works for me.

The network.http.keep-alive setting to false seems to provide the biggest improvement, but I think setting network.http..max-connections to 64 may have helped a little in my case, since I have a fairly slow "high speed" connection

I've also re-installed FF12 with these changes, and the issue seems to be resolved.

For now, this seems to have resolved my issues. If things start going downhill, I'll be back.

Thanks to everyone for all the help and suggestions. ent, but I think some of the other may have helped also.

hello, please also try to clear all cookies from google.com and the browser cache.

A place to start.

clearing CACHE and COOKIES, new popup blockers and plugins with new browsers may also be a problem.

You don't have to clear all the cookies, just the GOOGLE for "experimenting." TOOLS, OPTIONS, PRIVACY, SHOW COOKIES

It's just a place to start

Thanks for the suggestions. I've cleared all Google cookies and the cache, and I've disabled all extensions and add-ons. Still can't log in to my Google account.

There's a link on the Google login page to click if you're having trouble accessing your account, but that goes no where either.

I'm not getting any error messages. It just sits on the login page. Nothing happens at all. The same thing happens if I try to login into Google or into my Google calendar.

Is this just an issue with me, or does anyone else have this problem?

it works fine for me her on firefox 13 beta too. please also take the steps described at Fix login issues on websites that require a username and password that we haven't covered yet in this thread.

OK, this is really crazy. For some reason I can't access any webpage at https://accounts.google.com/ with FireFox 13 Beta.

I can do a search on Google, and it shows my email in the top right corner as if I'm logged in, but I can't access my calendar or anything else relating to my account.

If I go in with I.E. or Opera or Chrome, everything works just fine.

I've tried all the suggestions under Cannot Log Into Websites, and it still doesn't work. I'm completely stumped. I don't seem to have a problem with logging into any other web site, at least none that I've tried so far.

Since others don't have this issue, it must be something with my setup, but i have no idea what could be wrong.

Did you make sure that security software isn't blocking websites?

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

Last night I ran a full scan with Norton 360, and that didn't help. Still can't access my Google account on FF13Beta

more options

All righty then - I reset FireFox 13 Beta back to its default settings, and it is now willing to access my Google account. Now all I have to do is figure out just what I had changed that caused the problem. Makes me wonder about the problems I had with FF12 - although I did try it in safe mode, and it didn't seem to make any difference. More later.

more options

Well, that didn't work. I could access Google, but I was right back where I was with FF12 as far as page loading speed (or lack thereof). I tried removing FF13Beta and reinstalling it, but now I can't get it to reinstall. It's gets to the last second and then just hangs. Not sure what's going on, but I don't think FireFox likes me.

hello, please also do a full system scan with different tools like cor-el has suggested. the symptoms you've described and steps you've already taken indicate that this may be a problem with malware interfering on your pc - or the settings in norton 360 are set too restrictive...

more options

OK, I've run anti-malware in addition to a full Norton 360 scan. Nothing comes up. Also, it seems to me that malware would also be affecting the other browsers, and I'm having no problems with them.

I have been playing around with the values in network.http.max-connections, and lowering those seems to be making some difference. I'm beginning to suspect that perhaps some other about:config values may also need to be changed. I'll do some research on that and see what I can find.

more options

Looks like tweaking the config (about:config) has helped a lot. One change that seems particularly useful is changing network.http.keep-alive setting to false. I've also reduced the number of network connections from 256 to 64. We'll see how things work over the next day or so.

I would advice you to keep the prefs that are mentioned in that article to the default.
Changing those prefs can have the adverse effect and actually slow down Firefox or prevent web pages from displaying properly (network.http.pipelining = true is one of them if the server doesn't support that feature).
So it is better to undo the changes and reset the prefs to the default.

Thanks for the advice cor-el.

At the moment, FF13 Beta is now loading web pages with a speed that's comparable to the other browsers on my computer and is showing no adverse effects. The improvement in performance is remarkable. I will review the articles you've suggested and certainly consider reverting back to the default settings if I begin to see any deterioration of performance or other adverse effects.

Again, thanks. I'll post again after I try things out for a few days.

Cor-el,

As I noted on my other thread about FF12 being slow to load web pages, I've reset all config entries back to the default setting, except network.http.keep-alive which I set to false, and network.http.max-connections which I lowered to 64.

I've also re-installed FF12 with these settings, and all is working well, now

Thanks for your advice and assistance.

Peace.

(posting here to - since it might help someone here with this problem)

tlstrieg, I was having some problems only signing in to Google accounts with Firefox 13b6 and 13b7. I discovered it is the SPDY feature that is enabled by default in Firefox 13 was the problem. You have to disable SPDY by changing network.http.spdy.enabled to false in about:config. Once I turned SPDY off it logs into Google accounts fine. I guess Google doesn't like the SPDY feature. It's disabled by default in Firefox 12. You might want to give that a try and see if you can't log in to your Google Calendar account. IGood Luck.

Thanks a40098, That fixed it. Appreciate the assistance.

Glad to hear that fixed it!!

Firefox 13 final release, same thing..... I have to have the SPDY disabled to use gmail/google accounts. Stranage that SPDY doesn't work on google's own based SPDY.

Same problem here. Disabling SPDY, as instructed above, fixed it. Firefox (or Google?) has an issue here.
