A website has attached data I need to view; the files are in prn format, but FireFox will not open them (Internet Explorer will). Why?
The data on this website is kept in a password protected area, so the general public does not have access to it. The data is kept in prn format files and there is a new file for everyday (the files are generated to provide me with measured volumes of gas for each day from specified facilities). By clicking on the desired date, a new TAB is launched which will display the prn information. In FireFox, the TAB is generated but then is says it cannot find the page. Internet Explorer handles it without a problem.

Can you provide the link of that file?
prn is generally a printer output file, but there are a few other programs which use that file extension - http://www.file-extensions.org/search/?searchstring=prn&searchtype=2
What ever program generated that file, it doesn't sound like something Firefox understands, as it isn't a "normal" internet file type. Or it is a text file that doesn't have a Mime-type.
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
- Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
- Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
- Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Your above posted system details show outdated plugin(s) with known security and stability risks that you should update.
- Shockwave Flash 10.0 r32
Update the Flash plugin to the latest version.
I've cleared all my "cache," removed the cookies related to this site, tried using the Safe Mode - still nothing has changed. I also checked my Flash version, and I have the latest version to be used with FireFox.
I'm amazed so many sites work better than with IE, except this one. I guess I can keep IE around just for this.
See Vivek.Wilfred's postings about PRN files here.

I found some technical info on the file I'm trying to open:
"text/html; charset=ISO8859-1 revealTrans(Duration=0,Transition=23)"
Does this mean anything? Does it help?
Thanks.
