Web mail opens with 'basic mail', how can I persuade it to open with the standard version

Running V3.6.16 with a Windows 7 laptop

Using web mail Firefox opens using basic mail. At the bottom of the screen one can click on 'standard version' which amongst other things tells you if there are emails waiting. Opening Internet Explorer, it opens web mail with the standard version. The 'paperclip' that is used to attach items to an email is not available with basic mail, but works OK with the standard version.

Also, with my desktop using V3.6.13 and Windows XP Firefox opens in the standard version, which is what I wish to change my laptop to.

I have not been able to find any way of changing the setting so that the laptop opens with the standard version.

I'm not sure if web mail is a function of Firefox or my 'TalkTalk' broadband provider since it is available through whichever browser is in use.
