items going into local deleted folder

today all my incoming emails are going into my Local deleted folder for some reason and trying to put them where they belong in the inbox simpy means they go straight back to this deleted folder, I have tried to look at the settings but cannot see why it is doing this. Thank you for any help regards Paul
