Odd banner of script on different webpages

more options

There has been this odd banner of scripts on certain web pages for a while now and I'm not sure what it is or how to stop it. I don't know what the problem could be.

What security software do you have?

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support to see if that has effect.

I use Webroot for my security and I have uBlockOrigin to block adds. I don't exactly see, what will opening my computer in safe mode do or show me?

Does it still happen in Troubleshoot Mode?

This is usually caused by an extension or security software that mangles the HTTP response headers what causes Firefox to show the HTML code as plain text and not rendered HTML code.

I"m really not sure what I'm supposed to be looking for or doing, but nothing really seemed to happen.

If you're encountering unwanted banner scripts while using Mozilla Firefox and want to stop them, you can follow these steps:

Install an Ad Blocker:

Consider installing an ad blocker extension for Firefox. Extensions like uBlock Origin or AdBlock Plus can effectively block unwanted scripts, including banners. Adjust Firefox Content Settings:

Open Firefox and click on the three horizontal lines in the top-right corner to open the menu. Select "Options" or "Preferences" (depending on your operating system). Navigate to the "Privacy & Security" tab. Scroll down to the "Content Blocking" section. Enable the "Custom" option and choose "Strict" to block more trackers and scripts. Disable JavaScript:

Temporarily disabling JavaScript can stop many banner scripts. To do this: Go to the "Privacy & Security" tab in Firefox. Scroll down to the "Permissions" section. Uncheck the "Enable JavaScript" option. Use NoScript Extension:

Install the NoScript extension for Firefox. This extension allows you to control which scripts are allowed to run on a particular website. After installation, you can customize script permissions for individual websites. Clear Cookies and Cache:

Sometimes, unwanted scripts may be stored in cookies or cache. Clearing them might resolve the issue: Go to the "Privacy & Security" tab. Scroll down to the "Cookies and Site Data" section. Click on "Clear Data" and select both "Cookies and Site Data" and "Cached Web Content." Check for Malware:

Unwanted scripts may be a result of malware on your computer. Run a thorough antivirus or antimalware scan to ensure your system is clean. Update Firefox:

Ensure that you are using the latest version of Mozilla Firefox. Updates often include security patches and improvements that can help prevent unwanted scripts. Report the Issue:

If the problem persists on specific websites, consider reporting the issue to the website administrators. They may not be aware of the disruptive scripts and could take steps to address the issue. By implementing these steps, you should be able to reduce or eliminate unwanted banner scripts while using Mozilla Firefox.
