I forgot my primary password, and then remembered it (I think correctly). But now when I enter it it isn't accepted. The primary password screen is now appearing everywhere, not just on sites needing passwords, and now I'm getting notification of my firefox account being blocked (although when I entered the password I seemed to get in ok). I'm in the process of moving house (probably the stress caused my password amnesia!), and can't cope with not being able to get stored passwords. I understand all will be deleted if I cancel the primary password. Is there no way round this? I know it's my fault but please can you help? Diane Jones

Are you using Sync as this is a possible reason to ask for the Primary Password ?

Using Sync is a possible reason to ask for the Primary Password at startup or later in the session when you cancel a PP prompt. This is because the credentials to login to the Sync account are stored in the Password Manager and you need to enter the Primary Password to unlock the passwords and connect/login to the Sync account.

The Primary Password is only used locally to encrypt the logins stored in the profile folder and is never part of Sync and each device can have its own PP apart from mobile devices that use OS authentication (face/finger).
