Hi Renee, Google is your service provider for Gmail mailboxes. You can use other software to request your Gmail so you do not need to go through the websites, such as Thunderbird, but your account will still be with Google.

There are many other email service providers, but Mozilla (maker of Firefox) does not provide email accounts, so you will need to consider other options if you want to close down your Gmail.
