My firefox is slow but not real slow but enough to notice a little bit. It does take a minute to first load. It has crashed but only when I have clicked the close Firefox " Red X"

It really does a crazy thing. If I have VLC open playing a file, or I am in Firefox on YouTube If I change to new tab or click a link my sound on the Desktop crackles and it's like everything comes to a halt in VLC and Firefox. Or just in Firefox on YT. I am not sure if this is a hardware issue with my speakers I have already moved the speakers plug to front and no change it still does it. The speakers are old I bought them way back in 2005. Do speakers go bad? I don't know why it is doing this.

My other issue is cleaning my computer. You see Firefox has over 8,000 bookmarks I have collected since around 2006-2008 or even earlier. I don't know how to remove the ones I don't need anymore. I guess it has well over 250-300 folders and loose bookmarks My guess around 1500+ not in folders. Some folders will scroll a few minutes. I want to removed some folders I don't need anymore and want to know if there is a way to store others in case I need them later I can load them and keep some on Firefox? Many of these book marks are related to research I have done and I can't just trash my bookmarks and start over.

In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. Note: If any reports do not have BP- in front of the numbers/letters, click it to submit them.

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

Using your mouse, mark the most recent 7 - 10 Submitted crash reports, and copy them. Now go to the reply box and paste them in.

Please, Do not post a screenshot ! !

The only thing you can do here is to check each and remove what you don't want.

Well... It doesn't show any recent ones they are all old from back in 2019. This includes the submitted ones. But I swear it did crash because when It opened the first time after it happened which was last week Or end of week before, a three or four days ago it said it crashed and do I want to load previous session, or something to that effect.

I'm having the same trouble. Firefox is super slow on initial startup then is fine. So what I do is I open Firefox then open Chrome a second later and begin working immediately as I wait and wait for Firefox to open. It is just plain ridiculous that other people are having this issue and Mozilla refuses to allow us to downgrade to when Firefox was working for us.

They give you this message when you want to downgrade: "Warning: Firefox now includes downgrade protection to prevent corruption of user profile data. If you install an older version, you'll be prompted to create a new Firefox profile."

Well I don't want to create a new profile, I like the profile I have been using for years when Firefox was actually working properly. Also, they give you another warning on the same page: "Warning: Older Firefox versions pose a significant security risk." Which is basically lingo for "Hey, we broke Firefox, now you have to wait several months while we roll out update after update and NOT fix the issue for the better part of a year."

I use Firefox for my daily driver but have been using Chrome and other browsers which open immediately and have zero slowness or lag that Firefox does. I have tried everything. Uninstalled, reinstalled, removed all my addons, used a new profile, safemode, I've wined it, dined it, whispered sweet nothings to it and still it remains slow. I remember a few years ago that Firefox promoted their new faster browser and for the first several updates it was.

What happened? And why have I had a few updates since this problem and none of them fixed the issue? I know it's not my rig or my internet or my updates or graphics card or whatever software companies like to blame users for. Every other browser using the same addons or even more open in a nanosecond compared to firefox. Something is off. I checked my settings and it's not that as I haven't changed anything.

I'm sorry for sounding a little peeved, especially for something that is free, but I really don't understand what caused firefox to do a complete faceplant and stop working smoothly like it used to. And I don't understand why it hasn't been fixed. Can anyone shed some light on it?

I have the same bookmarks on Chrome and Chrome opens immediately and works smoothly. So this having to delete stuff to speed up Firefox is just excuses. Firefox needs to fix their browser and stop making excuses.

Read the post again. The bookmarks are a separate issue.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

For some reason I never got a button asking me to post a new comment so I had to find something along the lines of the issue that I have. I don’t know if it will do any good as I’ve tried getting help from everyone so far except the guy who runs Mozilla. No one seems to have an answer for me and none of the troubleshooting steps work for me. But I’ll go try creating a new post and see where it goes.
