In the last few week I have had trouble with "right clicking and open in new tab". I don't know if it's because of the latest update or not. Sometimes, not always, when I try to right click on a link or a button and open in new tab, it looks like it's going to open, the new tab appears there for a few seconds, and then it disappears. I have tried "control" left click and I can sometimes get that to work if I do it several times rapidly. I first noticed it in Facebook, but now it can happen on almost any website. I had version 80.? when I first noticed it, I now have 81.0 and I still does it. Any ideas? It's not that some website don't allow right clicking for copyright reasons, I an familiar with that, this is different in that it attempts to open a new tab and within a few seconds it disappears. Before you ask, I have checked for virus's and malware.

被選擇的解決方法

I removed AdAware and added uBlock to Firefox and it seems to work as good as AdAware without the "side effects". All is well again!!

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

As a test, disable your protection programs.

The problem seems to go away in safe mode. If it's one of my add-ons, why is it a problem now and not before a few weeks ago? Anyway, what I have for add-ons is: OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco Systems, Inc. (installed by Mozilla to comply with the WebRTC specification) Shockwave Flash (recently updated) Widevine Content Decryption Module provided by Google Inc. (enables playback of encrypted media in compliance with the Encrypted Media Extensions specification)

For extensions, I have: Adaware Ad Block Cookiebro F.B Purity Video DownloadHelper

All of these add-on and extensions have been in place for at least a year and have never given me any trouble in the past.

I think I need the add-ons so I haven't messed with them, but I have tried disabling the extensions one by one, but nothing helped.

Even add-ons can get a bad update.

It could be the work of one of your add-ons, or it could be Hardware Acceleration. How to disable Hardware Acceleration {web link}

Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> A)

In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Disable a few add-ons, then Restart Firefox.

Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All Of them.

If the problem continues, disable some more (restarting FF). Continue until the problem is gone. After, you know what group is causing the issue. Re-enable the last group ONE AT A TIME (restarting FF) until the problem returns.

Once you think you found the problem, disable that and re-enable all the others, then restart again. Let us know who the suspect is, detective.

It looks like Adaware is the culprit. I have their latest version. I just use their ad blocking software, not any other products they offer. I hate to do without that, maybe there is something similar out there.

That was very good work. Well Done. Please flag your last post as Solved Problem as this can help others with similar problems.

Contact Adaware for more help.

If you use Adblock Plus then you can consider uBlock Origin as a replacement to see if that works better (lower memory footprint).
