I very often have to visit a (company internal) webpage where the url is something like

        https://internal.company.com/blabla/whatever?func=test&id=XXXXX

where XXXX is changing (it's a document identifier)

Now I'd like to be able to reduce this to something like "a XXXXX" and to have firefox to automatically expand this to the full link. It's a bit like a custom search with a keyword. Is this easily possible?

You can set up a bookmark with the place to insert text indicated by %s, e.g.

https://internal.company.com/blabla/whatever?func=test&id=%s

Add a keyword to the bookmark, and then in the address bar you can type "mykeyword searchtext" to use it.
