Hi Elliesgrandad, when you first posted, your browser identified itself as Firefox 62. That's a start!

Perhaps the issue is that your Firefox home page changed and you need to change it back. Could you check this article:

How to set the home page

Did you lose any data? For example, do you still have your bookmarks?

Did you download any new software or let anyone remotely access your system?

Hi Elliesgrandad, how you regain control depends on where Bing is installed.

This article has the steps to switch the default search engine -- the sites used for results when searching from the address bar: Change your default search settings in Firefox.

However, you also should check your add-ons. They can override your manual changes. You can view, disable, and often remove unwanted or unknown extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
  • type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return

In the left column of the Add-ons page, click Extensions.

Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side. Any extensions Firefox installs for built-in features are hidden from this page, so everything listed here is your choice (and your responsibility) to manage. Anything suspicious or that you just do not remember installing or why? If in doubt, disable (or remove).

Any improvement?
