I am fed up with a slow computer, I don't know if it's windows 10, broadband or firefox but I get so much buffering and delay it is very frustrating. There is sometimes a pop up bar saying an extension is causing issues but it is quickly gone yet the slowness continues. I've tried closing, deleting, reinstalling etc nothing makes any difference. I've also tried Linux and it was the same, everyone blames somebody else. What can I try now?

hi, please only use one adblocking addon and change the following preference to improve performance: go to the firefox menu ≡ > options > privacy & security panel and under permissions check the setting to prevent accessibility services from accessing your browser.

Thanks but no difference. Everyone tells me I need more memory than 2gb for win10 so I'm seriously wondering if I need to dump it and buy another with more capacity.

Hi, the above says 2gigs but your not going any where fast that is for sure. If do build for the future general life span of a system is 5yrs.

when I built I stuffed 24gig in 8yrs ago on this and 32 in other one 5yrs ago.

Multi-Processor Support : Go to the 3 Bar Menu then Options --> General --> Performance and untick everything. change the recommended size lower then see how it runs. Note: 1 = No Multiprocessor = slow again. Try 2 Restart Firefox after making these changes please. Note : Hardware Acceleration is for Video Card, Monitor to see if remain off or to turn back on.

Only Disable as last resort.

Multi-processor Can completely disable it this way in about:config : dom.ipc.processCount set to 1 browser.tabs.remote.autostart = false browser.tabs.remote.autostart.2 = false

Only move to esr if low ram and old system.

Firefox Extended Release Version : Firefox ESR does not come with the latest features but it has the latest security and stability fixes.

If do please :

As for Win 10 go up the Start Menu and uninstall everything that will uninstall. Get rid of all Tiles. Go to Settings and go into every one of the headings and turn off everything you do not need or use like Maps. Can use Google maps instead. Some things will uninstall there also. But every category go up and down the menu and get rid of stuff.

As I mentioned Ignore that as it is not a solution nor actionable it is a monitor of programs which will take more ram to use.

I've done as much of that as I can but there is only the one browser.tabs.remote.autostart

none of which improved it at all

I just tried that and it is actually worse, it keeps "not responding" on each and every page.

Hi, just lost everything I typed. Ok 2gigs of ram it is time to stop on this as wasting time dealing with limitations that are crippling the use of this aged beast.
