Gmail works okay.

But my home email using IMAP won't work. Can't receive, have checked settings, removed passwords, but not on starting TB it doesn't even ask for the password.

Have reinstalled, no help.

Really stumped.

Has been getting slower for a while; archived emails to local folders but often took hours to sync.

No I cannot send or receive.

A bit lost on this one.

It is as if Thunderbird has some tasks in a queue of things to do, but the current task is 'stuck' and any other activity gets added to the queue but nothing progresses.

Has been stuck for over 2 days with the progress indicator swirling but even gmail account now cannot even open a mail; a new window opens, but stays blank.

Start your computer in safe mode with networking. If Thunderbird runs okay take a look at your antivirus. Tell it to leave your email alone.

Thanks, I tried that and it worked.

Then restarted normally and worked for an hour or so.

Now blocked again. Turning AVG off completely seems to let email through, but not just the email attachments but all AVG protection.

Not sure can be bothered fault finding this any further.

Any other suggestions apart from changing to avast or bitdefender?

It does sound like an AV or firewall problem.

We you using version 60?
