Hello,

I recently installed Firefox. However, it keeps blocking sites such as google, gmail and YouTube. To solve this problem, I first tried the suggestions that were posted in the Mozilla support page on this topic. So far, I tried the following solutions:

1) Reset Firefox 2) Removed all extensions (https everywhere, privacybadger and adblocker) 3) Reinstalled Firefox (Firefox opened google several times, but after computer reboot blocked it again) 4) Turned off VPN 5) Unselected 'safe browsing' in bull guard 6) Switched bullguard off entirely 7) Tried to import google security certificate, however, this was blocked as well 8) Tried to "add exception". However, this option was not shown under the "advanced header"

Other browers (edge and chrome) do not have these problems, and are able to normally run sites such as google and YouTube.

Does anyone know any other possible solutions? Otherwise I'm afraid I have to switch back to google chrome again.

There is security software like Avast, Kaspersky, BitDefender and ESET that intercept secure connections and send their own certificate.

Is there a certificate chain available that allows to check the issuer of the certificate?

  • click the "Advanced" button show more detail
  • click the blue SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER message to show the certificate chain
  • click "Copy text to clipboard" and paste the base64 certificate chain text in a reply

If that isn't possible then try these steps to inspect the certificate chain.

  • open the Server tab in the Certificate Manager
    • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Certificates: View Certificates -> Servers: "Add Exception"
  • paste the URL of the website (https://xxx.xxx) in it's location field.

Let Firefox retrieve the certificate -> "Get Certificate"

  • click the "View" button and inspect the certificate

You can see detail like the issuer of the certificate and intermediate certificates in the Details tab.
