Firefox suddenly stopped working. I've run security and it says no problems. Can't uninstall as it says have to close programme first, but its not open.

When someone had asimilar problem they were told to go into safe mode to uninstall, and I think that worked- but I don't know what that means or how to do it- simple steps please form someone if that's the best solution. Thanks

Restart your OS if that doesn't help then restart and delete the Firefox installation folder and reinstall if you cannot use the uninstaller.

Hi, I'd already restarted the OS to no effect. If I delete the folder will that actually delete it from the system? Can I do that then just reinstall? Thanks!

That will not fix the problem but compound the problem.

I thought so, I just think that's what the first answer said. I realise I need to uninstall it I think, but don't know how to do that when there is nothing open, but the programme seems to think it is..
