When I download a new e-mail it gets placed anywhere on the page instead of at the bottom of the page

Try clicking on the header label DATE to sort by date instead of whatever column you are sorting on now. Click the same column header a second time to reverse the sort order. The selected sort column has a small pointer in the header button.
