The toolbar icon for gmail, keeps suddenly going dead & won't open & I have to restart Firefox.

I can open and shut the email back and forth a few times and then all the sudden when I go to it to open it back up, the icon is dead and the email won't open. I have to close out Firefox and then re-open it, and i works again for a few times.
