Please let keep firefox playing on when the main screen is off

A few days ago, firefox app was updated on my smartphone. Before then, it didn't stop even when the main screen was off so I loved it! I could listen to so many songs and videos on youtube without wasting the power in my smartphone because firefox kept on playing even when the main screen was off. But.. updating made it worse in this case.

Is there any solution for this? Sometimes updating is not updating but downdating..

Thank you for your efforts on firefox and I hope this will get solved and better!

I miss this feature too. But I thought this is Youtube's fault. It would be helpful to hear what a Firefox programmer says about it.

This seems to be a change on the mobile YouTube site. A user in the following thread suggested the workaround of using Request Desktop Site:

https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/62t0ar/firefox_android_youtube_doesnt_play_in_background/

Does that work on yours? Can you find an alternate workaround anywhere?

'Request Desktop Site' seemed to work for a while but it ended up not working perfectly.. It didn't stop right away but it finally stopped after a few minutes or seconds..

Is there any other solution?

I hope playing on in background will go on.

Browsers have a feature that sites can use to know when the page has lost focus or the screen is turned off:

https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Web/API/Page_Visibility_API

Perhaps someone will create an add-on to block that information from reaching the page. I haven't looked into it.
