How Do I Restore Tabs

How Do I Restore Tabs

被選擇的解決方法

If none of the current session history files are from the right time, one other thing to check would be whether Windows captured the file in a restore point or snapshot backup. This would be a matter of pure lucky timing, so I'm not sure how optimistic you should be. You can use the following program to look in the latest restore point or snapshot for recovery.js and sessionstore.js:

Hi

I recommend you have a read of this guide that a fellow contributor wrote.

I hope this helps, but if not, please come back here and we can look into a different solution for you.

If you don't have a backup somewhere . . . . . . . . . .

These can't get your data back but will help in the future.

These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox

FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) {web link} FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more. In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild your saved files individually into installable .xpi files. It will also make backups of files that you choose.

Hi arimalan, could you check what session history files you do have available for potential restoration? (Some of this repeats the other article, but to have it all in one place...)

You can open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using either

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
  • (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter

In the first table on the page, click the "Show Folder" button. This should launch a new window displaying folders and files in your currently active Firefox profile.

In your profile folder, scroll down and double-click into the sessionstore-backups folder. Save all files here to a safe location, such as your Documents folder. If not too much time has passed, you may be able to use them to recover your lost tabs.

The kinds of files you may find among your sessionstore files are:

  • recovery.js: the windows and tabs in your currently live Firefox session (or, if Firefox crashed at the last shutdown and is still closed, your last session)
  • recovery.bak: a backup copy of recovery.js
  • previous.js: the windows and tabs in your last Firefox session
  • upgrade.js-build_id: the windows and tabs in the Firefox session that was live at the time of your last update

Could you take a look at what you have and the date/time of the various files to see whether you think any of them would have the missing tabs?

Note: By default, Windows hides the .js extension. To ensure that you are looking at the files I mentioned, you may want to turn off that feature. This article has the steps: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hide-file-name-extensions
