A few minutes ago I right clicked on the bookmarks menu and opened 2 or 3 in a new tab. Then I went to do the same and I found I cannot do that anymore. The options are there but they are in light grey, as inactive options. I have followed all the other processes suggest here on Mozilla Support and none of them have worked. In Safe Mode I have turned off Use Hardware Acceleration. I do not want to use the extension that is being offered, just to do something I could do litetrally 3 minutes ago. I am not using any addons and Fiirefox is set to default theme. I suspect this is part of the New Firefox which is being talked about here on Mozilla Support. Please tell me where on Mozilla Firefox site I can read the announcements about these changes. Since I updated to Firefox 50.0 last Wednesday, there were 2 firefox.exe processes in the task manager, they were dowloading like mad and I could get nowhere online, pop-up windows popped up on every page, all the symptoms of a trojan. I followed all the advice and ran Microsoft Safety Scanner, TDSSKiller AntiRootkit Utility, Hitman Pro, ESET Online Scanner, Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool, AdwCleaner, and SuperAntiSpyware. I am always using Norton 360 and Malwarebytes Anti Malware. No trojan or other malware was found. So I uninstalled Firefox, completely deleted it from my computer, downloaded Firefox, and installed it. That got rid of the 2 firefox.exe processes for one evening. they were back yesterday. Today there is only 1 firefox.exe in the task manager, however all the trojan symptoms are back. I open the homepage Google , that page is completely loaded, but the bytes received keep coming and coming. Bytes and bytes in the hundred thousands are downloading. All my other software is set not to update automatically. I cannot get much anywhere online because the pages I try to open timeout. It is not my internet connection. I assume this is the New Firefox, that updates itself automatically and changes your settings everytime you open it, and you cannot turn automatic updates off. I have Firefox updates set to not check automatically. I do give allowance for Flash Player to download and update, as part of it does every time you open any browser, and that cannot be turned off. If this is the New Firefox I cannot use it. I am very very tired, almost asleep. I am very very angry. And if Firefox goes the way of Windows 10 I am never using the internet again. I do not have the time to spend 16 hours trying every fix, just so while I am using Firefox a valuable standard feature can be taken away. And it is now possibly only available if you install an extension which someone in the Mozilla Community has created? Also to check your plugins you have to search Google and get the page up yourself. Because the link on the plugins page is no longer there. Instead there is a mechanical wheel icon where you check for updates.

I called for more help.

Let’s do a full clean re-install; Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link} Save the file. Then Close Firefox.

Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86) Mac: Open the "Applications" folder.
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-download-and-install-firefox-mac Linux: Check your user manual. If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder Firefox in your home directory.

Do Not remove the profiles folder.

Look for, and rename any Mozilla or Firefox program folders by adding .old to them. Do not rename the Mozilla Thunderbird folder if there is one.

After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner if you have one. Then run the installer. If all goes well, remove the OLD folders when you are done.

If there is a problem, start your Computer in safe mode and try again.
