Twice my browser said update, strange address, I did not click, closed it, checked FF and it said I was current. Is this a hack or ransome ware?

I looked at the screen and there was a FF logo with a red background. It said emergency update required. The web address looked odd so I closed it out and went to FF home page. Home page said I had the current version. I just want to know if it is real and if not to let folks know it is out there.

Thanks!

Good job closing out that page - if it doesn't look legit, it probably isn't - Mozilla Firefox logo or not. By the time Mozilla "legal" gets after sites who may be using Mozilla licensed trademarks illegally, the damage may have already done and the clowns have moved on.

In the future when you run into a questionable web page, use Help > Report Web Forgery ... and report that page to Mozilla. That won't help you directly, but it may help Mozilla go after the bad guys and prevent less experienced users not "get taken".

This is where that menu item takes you, but the URL would be filled in automatically by Firefox. https://www.google.com/safebrowsing/report_phish/
