Just updated to Firefox version 45.0.2, tonight, and changed none of my settings on anything, and the browser is crawling. Anyone else having this problem? I know what we're going to be told, and I'm not really interested in that. What I am interested to see is how many others have had this instant problem.

Something may have gone wrong with the update.

Do I need to uninstall Firefox? Can't I simple reinstall over the existing one?

Anyway, I have my Flash plugin set to "ask" and it's seems to be choosing when it wants to work when I allow it to play videos at news sites.

If there are corrupt files in the program folder, it might not be replaced. The above instructions will prevent this.

Okay, so I uninstalled and reinstalled and can tell no difference. To reiterate, prior to the update I had changed no settings.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

I've called the big guys to help you. Good luck.

Keep this link handy in case you want to use it; Install an older version of Firefox {web link}

Please note FirefoxFan1 has had other problems with Firefox in previous versions. Some of these problems may be related to setting Firefox to clear History at closedown. Helpdesk staff did look at a previous question thread. That thread also cross links to a still open Firefox bug, and to previous questions.

As Fred explained those are different procedures. Reinstalling over the top of the same version is rarely going to solve anything.

After you have deleted the old program and reinstalled, what happens if you try Firefox in a new clean additional profile do problems go away then.

beegolden Please start your own question. Did you also note that particular Crash Signature was previously associated with Malware

It may be worth running scans with all the tools listed in

Thanks for your prompt reply. I will create a new thread since it may be a different problem. I did see the previously association with malware, but malwarebytes does not find any problems. all the best!

Note that it is possible that your firewall or other security software blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to install for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
